While our Avionic upgrades for this Cessna 182 are relatively minimalist, they are accompanied by several major mechanical and structural modifications performed by Seaplanes West Inc. SPW offers some of the best knowledge in the float plane business, specializing in Cessna 182 floatplane conversions.
As you might have guessed, one of the biggest changes to this 182 was the addition of Aerocet 3400 amphibious floats. Other mods carried out by SPW include a new Continental IO 550 engine (replacing the original 470), a three-blade propeller, and new paint.
As mentioned above, Avionic upgrades for this aircraft were functional rather than glamorous. The most major piece of new equipment is an Insight G4 engine monitor, and this is an appropriate choice given the new engine. Other changes include replacing the MX20 multi-function display with a newer, higher resolution GMX200, installing a new Kannad ELT, and relocating an existing strike-finder display for better visibility.
